From complexion to minerality, the sensitive relationship to the image changes support through the edition of a portfolio of lithographs made by tattoo artists.
This is a first long-term project; one year to host, in turn, eleven tattoo artists. Their technical initiation as well as images of the process of creation and printing are visible since one year on the Instagram account of the project: @peaudepierre
Introduction, first contact with the stone - one small format per artist to first tame the matrix. New tools for a new support; the gesture adapts and reinvents itself.
Each tattooist tames the material, and takes over the final space in a second step. From stone to paper, the image unfolds in multiples under the hand of Mathilde Busch, publisher but also a lithographer; each drawing is printed in 20 numbered and signed copies, in 56x76cm format.
The initial impetus came from a common interest in printmaking, and the genesis of the project was aimed at democratizing these techniques, which had for too long been considered elitist. Having succeeded in creating a link between know-how perceived as "underground" and traditional craftsmanship, the creation of a more accessible object soon became a necessity. For this reason, and for the sake of synthesis, a small box containing reproductions of all the images in the portfolio, in 14x14cm format, has also been edited in 180 copies in digital printing and with silver screen printing.
This first project weaves a plural canvas and forms a composite collection through which each artist tells a little of his or her story.
